banquet_promoAlmost 200 Arrowmen, friends and family showed up to the annual Lodge recognition banquet on October 15th 2011 where we honored those people who make the lodge tick. We said good bye and thank you to our old officers and swore in this year's leaders. Master of Ceremonies Breydon P led the evening's celebration. We also honored our latest vigil class, reflected on ArrowCorps502 and promoted upcoming lodge and national activities. Very special thanks go to our key note speaker OA National Committee Member Toby Capps.

We revealed the Founders Award recipients at the event.

Five reasons you should make NOAC 2012 your next stop!

By Kevin M., National Promotions Team - October 23, 2011

As the countdown to the 2012 National Order of the Arrow Conference at Michigan State University begins you may be asking yourself; why should I go? What is there for me at NOAC? Worry not! Here are some of the top reasons you should make the trip to Michigan State University for NOAC 2012!

1. Meet Arrowmen from around the nation and the world.
NOAC is a great chance to meet Arrowmen from across the country and abroad. Making new friends and catching up with old ones is a great tradition at NOAC. You can meet the 2012 national officers at a Meet the Man session and there is no doubt that when you head home from Michigan State University you will have met many new friends that will last a lifetime.

Your T'Kope Kwiskwis Lodge Officers

Unit Election season is finally here! With the training provided at Fall Rally, chapter election teams will have the tools and expertise needed to conduct professional, meaningful elections in our member units. Troops and Teams can begin holding elections as early as Monday, November 14. The election season will last until mid-April 2012.

Units are encouraged to sign up early as elections are scheduled on a first-come, first served basis. All unit leaders should have received a notice from the Lodge explaining the purpose and process of unit elections. Chapter are encouraged to contact units directly.

To schedule your unit election, talk to the OA at you district Roundtable or contact your chapter leadership. If you are interested in being part of a unit elections team, contact your chapter leadership to see how you can get involved.

troop_rep_patchInterested in being more involved in the OA? Looking for ways you can serve your unit? Become an OA Troop/Team Representative! T'Kope Kwiskwis is looking for Arrowmen willing to serve their unit cheerfully by providing a link between the Order of the Arrow and their Troop or Team. OA Troop/Team Reps are leaders in thier unit, sharing information on OA activities and programs with Arrowmen and non-Arrowmen, helping members on the trail to Brotherhood, and assisting with unit elections. Even better, the OA Troop/Team Rep is a leadership position that counts towards advancement requirements!

All OA Troop Reps must be registered with the Lodge so we can communicate and distribute infomation to Reps about new opportunities, programs, and announcements. Also new this year is specific training for OA Troop/Team Reps, which will be available at Fall Rally and in January.

If you're already a Troop/Team Rep, let us know so we can send you specifics on what the position entails. If you're interested in becoming one or want more information, let us know at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. picture1This year, T'Kope Kwiskwis Lodge held its LLD and Lodge Banquet on October 15, 2011. Below is a recap of those two memorable events.

This year, the Lodge held LLD in conjunction with our council’s Program and Training Conference (PTC). Over 75 youth and adults learned about Chapter management and how to run a quality program under the expert instruction of some of the Lodge's best youth trainers. Everyone who attended had a blast and learned a ton. With this attendance, the Lodge is well on its way towards having 100% of its Lodge and Chapter leaders trained for their positions.

That night, the Lodge held our Annual Recognition Banquet and recognized the leaders that made last year’s successful program possible. ArrowCorps502 was the theme of the night, in recognition of the Lodge's involvement in the project last year. The keynote address was given by Toby Capps, a member of the National OA Committee and a member of our lodge. The event attracted over 180 attendees, a new record! There was plenty of T'Kope spirit present as we celebrated our year and prepared for future success.

logo_wmi_nolsOn October 28-29, T'Kope Kwiskiws will be sponsoring a Wilderness First Aid Class at Camp Brinkley. This is the full 16-hour course developed by NOLS. Having someone trained in WFA is a requirment for attending Philmont or other High Adventure bases, and highly recommended for any outdoor activity.

We are offering a special opportunity- the first 10 youth to register are FREE. For other youth and adults, the cost is only $50, a steal considering that REI and the Mountaineers offer the same class for $250 or more!

The only prerequisites are CPR with AED and basic First Aid. Bring your cards, food for the weekend or $25 for food.
